Maurice Esteve war ein autodidaktischer französischer Maler und Designer. 1913 zieht er mit seinen Eltern nach Paris. In erster Linie sind es die Maler Jean Fouquet, Paolo Uccello und Paul Cézanne,die Maurice Esteve in den zwanziger Jahren beeindrucken. Der Künstler ist weitgehend Autodidakt. Lediglich ab 1924 besucht er das freie Atelier der Akademie Colarossi. Dort versucht Esteve nach dem Vorbild Georges Braques und Fernand Légers zu einer konstruktiven Umsetzung seiner Motive zu gelangen. Damit schafft er eine Art kubistischen *Fauvismus. Estèves umfangreiches Schaffen beschränkt sich nicht auf das Genre der Malerei. Er widmet sich ebenso der Collage, dem Textildesign und der Wandmalerei. 1954 nimmt Maurice Esteve an der Biennale in Venedig teil. Lyrische Abstraktionen, deren Ziel es ist, Form und Farbe in fast poetischer Attitüde darzustellen.In vielen renommierten Museen und Sammlungen auf der ganzen Welt haben seine Werke ihren Platz gefunden.

* Fauvismus : ist eine in der Kunstgeschichte gebräuchliche Sammelbezeichnung für mehrere Werke, die zwischen 1904 und 1907 in Frankreich von einer Gruppe von Malern hervorgebracht wurde. Er stellt die erste künstlerische Bewegung innerhalb der Malerei des 20. Jahrhunderts dar.Der fauvistische Bildraum drückt sich durch ein Verhältnis von reinen, gleichmäßig gesättigten Farben aus, wobei die Reduktion der räumlichen Bezüge unter den „Bildelementen“ ebenfalls kennzeichnend ist.

Born in the french town of Culan ( Département Cher) on May 2, 1904. In 1913 he moved to Paris with his parents. Estève was particularly impressed by the painters Jean Fouquet ,Paolo Uccello and Paul Cézanne who had the greatest influence on Estève.Estève was largely self-educated. in 1924,he tried to constructively implement of his motifs according to the model of Georges Braques and Fernand Légers, thus creating a kind of Cubist * Fauvism. Esteve was also active in collage, textile design and murals. He took part in the Venice Biennale in 1954. Lyrical abstractions with the aim of depicting form and color with an almost poetic attitude. His works have established themselves in many well-known museums and collections around the world.

* Fauvism: Les Fauves (French for The Wild Beasts) were a short-lived and loose grouping of early 20th century Modern artists whose works emphasized painterly qualities and strong colour over the representational or realistic values retained by Impressionism. While Fauvism as a style began around 1900 and continued beyond 1910, the movement as such lasted only three years, 1905–1907, and had three exhibitions.[The leaders of the movement were Henri Matisse and André Derain.The paintings of the Fauves were characterised by seemingly wild brush work and strident colours, while their subject matter had a high degree of simplification and abstraction.
